"Praise After Pressure!"
Title: "Praise After Pressure!"
Scripture: Psalm 118:24 NIV
Speaker: Pastor James J. Minnick
Psalm 118:24 becomes more than just a familiar verse when we understand it was born from pressure, not perfection. This message confronts us with a powerful reality: the pressures we face—financial strain, mental exhaustion, health challenges, relationship tensions, and leadership burdens—are not signs of spiritual failure but the very context in which our faith is tested and proven. The psalmist didn't write these words from a place of ease; he had just survived being hard-pressed on every side, surrounded by enemies, almost falling. Yet after God's intervention, he made a deliberate choice that changes everything: to rejoice. This isn't about pretending problems don't exist or maintaining toxic positivity. It's about recognizing that when God gives us another day, another breath, another morning sunrise, He's declaring He's still in control. The breakthrough comes when we understand that rejoicing is not a mood dependent on circumstances—it's a decision, a way of life. We're challenged to examine what we're doing with the days God has made for us. Are we allowing pressure to dictate our response, or are we choosing praise in the midst of the pressure? The most profound truth here is that praise doesn't come after all problems are solved; praise comes while we're still under pressure, because that's when we most need to remember who holds us.
