"We Are One"

Jun 28, 2026    Pastor James Minnick

At the heart of this powerful message lies Jesus' final prayer before His arrest, found in John 17:20-23, where He prays not for miracles or crowds, but for one thing: unity among His people. We're reminded of a profound truth that the enemy cannot destroy what he cannot divide. Throughout history, the church has survived persecution, famine, and government opposition, but division has wounded us more deeply than any external force ever could. The message uses the compelling illustration of rope—a single strand can accomplish little, but when hundreds of tiny strands are twisted together, that rope becomes strong enough to lift automobiles and ships. Similarly, when God's people come together as one, families change, communities transform, and nations are revolutionized. We share one Savior, one mission, and one witness to the world. Our unity isn't about looking alike, voting alike, or worshiping exactly alike—it's about belonging to one Lord, washed by one blood, saved by one cross, and bearing one name: Jesus. The world is watching, and our greatest testimony isn't our buildings, budgets, or programs—it's our unity. When we stand together in love despite our differences in age, race, economics, or background, we demonstrate to a divided world that Jesus Christ is real and His love transforms everything it touches.
