What We Believe
We believe every believer should be in a spiritually growing relationship with Jesus by obeying God’s Word, while yielding to the Holy Spirit and by being conformed to the image of Christ.
We believe the entire Bible is inspired by God, without error and the authority on which we base our faith, conduct and doctrine.
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to this earth as Savior of the world.
We believe Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for our sins. We believe that salvation is found by placing our faith in what Jesus did for us on the cross. We believe Jesus rose from the dead and is coming again.
We believe water baptism is a symbol of the cleansing power of the blood of Christ and a testimony to our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe in the regular taking of Communion as an act of remembering what the Lord Jesus did for us on the cross.

Mount Pleasant MBC History
The message of The Mount is that Christ saves sinners. In light of that, we steward a message that radically changes lives. We will therefore preach, teach and train people to live out its implications in their neighborhoods.
January 16, 1948 organized the United Faithful Prayer Band which was later that year renamed to Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and Reverend Collis O. Stewart called to serve as Pastor.
In answer to the prayers of the Pastor and members the church purchased its first edifice located at 3712 Preston, Detroit MI 48207 with a mortgage burning celebration in 1955.
November 16, 1986 Reverend Dr. Robert L. Redmond II was selected to serve as Pastor after Reverend Collis O. Stewart was called home from labor to reward on February 18, 1985 after serving 37 years as pastor.
Under the leadership of Pastor Stewart, he shared his vision for a larger worship edifice which was well under way before his passing in 1986. Pastor Redmond reiterated the same charge and continued the search which led us to our beautiful church edifice located at 21150 Moross Road, Detroit MI 48236 with a mortgage burning celebration in September 1991.
March 25, 2001 Reverend Dr. James J. Minnick was selected to serve as Pastor, after Dr. Robert L. Redmond II retired after being stricken with a serious illness. He served as pastor for 13 years and was later called home from labor to reward.
On Sunday February 7, 2016 with a sense of urgency of “changing the status quo”, Pastor Minnick casted Vision 2020 – to transform our mindset from charity to spiritually enterprising, by embracing the unlimited possibilities and opportunities available to us within the Kingdom of God.
